Venice

After arriving in France, I went over to Germany for a few days to see family and the I headed south, over the Alps into northern Italy. I was staying near Bolzano, so one of the first places I went to see was Venice. I've never been before so I was quite excited.

Having a motorbike I parked on a pavement at the main terminus just before you enter Venice. If I used a car it would cost 40eu for the day. You can also catch a train or a bus into Venice, so there's lots of options.

After parking-up I spent the whole day wandering aimlessly through the thousands of small alleyways and streets. If you need to eat, choose a small cafe off the main thoroughfares. And if you want to go onto the water, it was 110eu for a Gondola ride, so I caught a water taxi from the main square back to the terminus - which cost 8eu - and took me through all the main waterways... If you go to Venice, you need a day just to walk the streets. If you want to visit churches, museums and shops - then two days.
