I went away to Manchester and learnt how to prepare, expose and develop wet-plate collodion pictures. It's something that I've always wanted to learn to do and I finally managed to find someone who could teach me - John Brewer - and also find the time to travel to Manchester to learn.
I've recently bought two wooden cameras, a 1912 Ainsco which shoots onto 10x8 inch plates, and a 5x7 inch Lancaster, which was made in the 1890's. The Ainsco was made in the USA and the Lancaster was made in the UK.
This is a picture of my Ainsco - taken using my Lancaster and shooting onto 5x4 inch black tin-plate. I'm going to have some fun with these...
