I recently bought two new cameras. Two OLD cameras..! Both use 120 rollfilm shooting 6x6cm negatives and I bought them for a really good price from an antique shop in Manchester, and surprisingly - they both work..!
The camera on the left is a Zeiss Ikonta 530/16. It has an 80mm f2.8 lens and was made in Germany somewhere between 1938 and 1939. The Zeiss has two viewing windows, one with a straight forward view and the other linked to a rangefinder. By rotating a small wheel next to the lens, the wheel focusses the lens and the second viewing window allows to you see where you are focussing. It was pretty revolutionary for the time.
The camera on the right is a Balda 'Baldex' folding camera. Made in west Germany between 1955 and 1957, it has a 75mm f3.5 lens but isn't a rangefinder. To focus you have to judge the distance, pre-focus the lens - and then say a prayer...
It's game-on now as I want to start shooting more film.
