Wild and Wonderful Corsica

I caught the short ferry-ride from the north of Sardinia to the south of Corsica. The Sardinian harbour of Santa Teresa is only small, but entering the Corsican harbour of Bonifacio - you are amazed. As you enter the narrow entrance, there are huge tall cliffs on either side of the entrance, and then as the ferry gets into the harbour it has to make a 360 degree turn, in a very small basin. And towering above the harbour is the high-walled fortress, with the town shoehorned inside.

I spent about two weeks on the island and loved Corsica. Where Sardinia has peace and quiet, Corsica has dramatic scenery, mountains and wonderful food. I travelled around and across the Island. In Ajaccio I also visited the family home and family chapel of Napoleon Bonaparte - who was Corsican. The house is a museum and is really interesting, and it was the main reason why I visited the Island. Mind you, the scenery in the mountains was also breath-taking.
