The last days of summer in Barcelona and Girona
Leaving Corsica, I caught the overnight ferry to Marseille and headed south towards Spain. I ended up in a town called Blaines - which was close enough to travel into Barcelona and also far enough away as not to be too touristy.
Barcelona is a huge city and I spent two days wandering around the city. Its a busy old place though, with zillions of tourists. You cant avoid them when you amble down Las Ramblas, but if you wander around the side-streets its much quieter. Also having transport helps, as it means you can easily jump out of the centre and see many of the other attractions which are less visited.
I also visited Girona, which is a lovely old town. Most of the town is big and new, but the centre is still old and original, which was a pleasure to visit and amble down the shaded and narrow streets.
