I grew up in Manchester. Recently I travelled south to see family and while I was there I spent a pleasant afternoon walking around Salford Quays. When I was young this was the epicentre of Manchester docks. It was dark, dingy and full of large derelict buildings. Fast forward 30 years and the Quays is an amazing place, full of colour, sharp angles and beautiful buildings.
