A Prisoner in Portmerion

While the weather was good I got away for a quick trip to Wales, and while I was there I spent a day at the wonderful village of Portmeirion. The village was built between 1025 and 1976 and was a labour of love for Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, who designed and built the village. He used the Italian village of Portofino as inspiration and was the catalyst for his vision - and not a copy. It was also used extensively for many of the outside scenes for the 1970's TV series 'The Prisoner' and since then its been very popular for tourists. You can even stay there, either in their hotel or by booking an apartment or a whole house.

I wasn't sure at first but after spending a day there I could definitely recommend a visit. Its wonderful. I found myself a quiet spot and actually spent a good couple of hours enjoying the view, the ambience and the quietness. Again, I didn't take a camera - but used my phone to take the pictures.
